With a towel over, hold your head and breathe in the steam. Do this for a few minutes. Blow your nose after the steam. You should do this remedy few times a day. You might want to add some menthol or eucalyptus oil to the hot water as it will help cleanse your sinuses too.

Ginger

Another possible solution for your runny nose is ginger. This spice actually has some antioxidants that can help improve your immune system. The antiviral and antibacterial properties of ginger have been found to be effective in banishing various ailments including runny nose. All that you have to do is to grate some ginger and some salt. Chew on it afterwards. You can also make some ginger tea if you like as it has the same properties.
 
Turmeric

Turmeric is also a good home remedy for a runny nose because of its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties. Soak half a teaspoon of dry turmeric to a cup of linseed oil. Hold this mixture over a heat until it smokes. Inhale the smoke from one nostril then the other. You should do this two times a day to loosen the mucus in your body.



Eucalyptus oil

Who would have thought that eucalyptus oil can also be a good solution to treat your runny nose. A few drops of this oil in your handkerchief so you can inhale the scent and you will be able to reduce your runny nose in a jiffy. Eucalyptus oil is best known for its antiviral and antimicrobial properties hence it is a good option to have to if you are suffering from colds. Keep in mind that this oil has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties too. 
 




These home remedies have been found to be quite effective in stopping runny nose in no time. The best part is that they can be used several times without any risk of suffering from side effects unlike in medications. There are more home remedies to try but these ones are worth starting with.
